About Us

Caroline Mouncher F.N.A.T.D

Caroline attended her first dance classes at her local ballet school in Romford, Essex, at the age of 3 and, has been dancing for as long as she can remember.
Taking part in amateur in examinations, shows, competitions and dance festivals across Essex and London inspired her to pursue a career in Dance.
At 16 she gained a place at the London School of Classical Dance for 3 years full-time vocational training. She studied a wide variety of dance and related subjects including Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz, Tap, Repertoire, Mime, Anatomy, Music, and Choreography. She also did an apprenticeship as a teacher, working in the evenings and studying in the day.
After graduating from the college as, a Cecchetti Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (a teaching qualification in classical ballet ) she was asked to stay on as a teacher. Whilst working on her first teaching job she met her future husband and dance partner Robert.

Rob Mouncher L.N.A.T.D

Rob is from Cardiff and started dancing when he was seventeen.
He took classes locally, then at the age of 20 went to London to train at the Arts Educational School for two years, and the Central School of Ballet for a third year.
During his time as a dance student he also trained in Pilates with Gordon Thompson, ( co-founder of the Body Control Pilates Association ® ) in his Body Conditioning Studio in Covent Garden.
After leaving college Rob became a member of Equity ( the actor’s union ) and performed as a professional dancer / singer in Theatre productions in Jersey, Manchester and Swansea. He appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was an adult performer with the National Youth Music Theatre. He also worked as a “swing” in the West End production of Cats.
He first met Caroline in London when he attended classes at the school where she worked.

After they married and moved to Cardiff, Rob trained as a therapist in both Sports Massage and Reflexology and Caroline continued teaching dance.
Using their experience as dancers they undertook a period of training together as a couple, as Ballroom and Latin teachers they both qualified with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing.
They have taught in Cardiff since 1995 and started off working freelance for Harry Marks, Cardiff County Council, Viva, Living Well, The Metropolitan Club and the University of Glamorgan. They have also run dance holidays for HF Holidays and, were dance professionals on Cunard’s cruise ship “QE2” during 2002.
In 1998 they began their own programme of classes which they have built up steadily from just one small class.

Rob met Gordon Thompson again after he had just formed the Body Control Pilates Association® (together with Lynne Robinson). Rob was one of the first people in Wales to train as a Pilates instructor with that Association. He has taught Pilates since 2000. Caroline also trained with Body Control Pilates® and became an instructor in 2006. As well as being matwork instructors they have both trained (with Gordon Thompson) as Reformer and Cadillac machine work instructors.
Rob and Caroline are both qualified to teach Ballroom Dance, Latin American Dance and Country & Western Dance and, are listed by the Registered Exercise Professionals(level3) for Pilates. Caroline is also a Freestyle Dance teacher and is a Fellow of the National Association of Teachers of Dancing in this form of dance.
